First Technician Position Filled

The Horsfall lab will have its first technical staff member this week, a big welcome to Margaret Stafford.

LeAP'd

Last week Louise took part in a SynBio Leadership Acceleration Program (LeAP) to develop ideas on how to forward synthetic biology in the public interest. So many ideas, mind-blowing presentations, a truly amazing experience. Thanks for the invite LeAP organisers, hope our little projects can do you proud.

New PhD Student

The Horsfall lab would like to welcome its first PhD student. Nick Pantidos is a BBSRC CASE student who is researching the use of bacteria to remove copper from waste streams.

First Funding Approved

The Horsfall lab has its first grant! We will soon be looking for researchers to work on the EPSRC funded ‘More with less: Engineering solutions for resource efficiency’ project “CLAW” (cleaning land for wealth).

LeAP..!

Louise is getting ready to LeAP! She has been accepted on the Synthetic Biology Leadership Acceleration Program, heading to the Airlie centre, Washington DC soon.

It’s official; Louise is now STEM ambassador as well as an RSC ChemNet ambassador. The Horsfall lab, committed to science outreach.

Playing In The Sandpit

Been exploring the potential of synthetic biology solutions to resource efficiency problems. Thank you to everyone who took part in the EPSRC sandpit, the mentors, the facilitators and especially the organisers. It was an intense and stimulating week, now for some sleep.

Gordon Research Conference, USA

Just about to fly out to Rhode Island for this year’s biocatalysis conference. Can’t wait, the program looks great. Loving the amount of synthetic biology in there!
